Certrec Sponsors at NERC’s 2018 Grid Security Conference (GridSecCon)

Cybersecurity and physical security continue to grow in importance in successful NERC compliance programs.

FORT WORTH, Texas (PRWEB) November 19, 2018 — Certrec, a leading regulatory compliance provider for NERC compliance, participated as a sponsor at the 2018 GridSecCon (Grid Security Conference) in Las Vegas. NERC’s Electricity Information Sharing and Analysis Center (E-ISAC) and the Western Electricity Coordinating Council hosted the eighth annual GridSecCon, which was held October 16-19. The conference included cybersecurity and physical security experts from industry and government who shared emerging security trends, policy advancements, and insights into the latest strategies and solutions to handle known and potential cyber and physical security threats.

A Trilateral Memorandum of Understanding Signing Ceremony was an important part of an already impressive conference. This agreement was signed among NERC, the Japan Electricity-ISAC, and the European Energy ISAC. The entities committed to working together to help prevent cyber-attacks and enhance the cyber security resiliency of electric power systems in Europe, Japan, and North America through information exchanges and other agreed-upon initiatives. Certrec’s Office of NERC Compliance supports entities in these efforts, ranging from program reviews to program development and implementation.

“It was exciting to witness the signing of this important agreement. Since many threats are global, this MOU joins the substantial capabilities of these three key entities,” said Bob Biggs, Certrec’s Office of NERC Compliance Services Director. “Our clients understand the increasing importance of NERC CIP compliance to harden assets and to protect the electric grid. Protecting Bulk Electric System (BES) Cyber Assets ultimately improves reliability and reduces risk.”
