Conversations with Certrec: Why Is Fac-008 Compliance So Hard?

Last month, we asked our audience which country plans to phase out nuclear energy entirely by 2030? Overall, the most voted answer was Germany at 72 percent. In second place, Japan received 15 percent of the vote. France received nine percent of the vote. Finally, Sweden received the least votes, at four percent.
The correct answer is Germany. Germany’s decision to phase out nuclear power was a culmination of a long-standing debate and a 2011 decision following the Fukushima disaster. Germany permanently shut down its last three nuclear power plants in April 2023, and is now focused on transitioning to a renewable energy-based system, aiming for 80% renewables by 2030.
